Staff Accountant

Position Title: Staff Accountant
Reports to: Manager of Accounting Operations
Direct Reports: None
Salary Grade: 14
SUMMARY: Performs a variety of daily functions in the accounting department,
High School Diploma or equivalent
College Degree (Preferred)
5 years of experience in an accounting or financial environment
Good math skills and basic knowledge of accounting principles/functions
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Good verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently under strict time deadlines
Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.
Prepare and submit FR2900 and be able to field questions from Federal Reserve analysts
Assist Sr. Staff Accountants with data entry for Fixed Assets database
Assist Sr. Staff Accountants with data entry for Pre-Paid database
Field inquiries on fixed assets and pre-paid from others within the bank
Back up the Sr. Staff Accountant for monthly fixed asset functions
Handle additions and deletions of properties with insurance provider
Act as contact between vendors, branch personnel and insurance provider during claims/losses
Present eligible invoices to UCRMS for reimbursement
Perform financial analysis when requested
Provide support and backup on the daily account reconciliation for the Federal reserve bank account
Assist Manager of Accounting Operations and Assistant Controller with audit research and auditor requests
Perform general ledger account reconciliations as assigned
Perform internal DDA account reconciliations as assigned
Research and assist others with clearing reconciling items from assigned accounts
Assist others within the accounting department as assigned
Other duties as assigned

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
